Outfit: Workout Wear

Hey everyone! Today's outfit post is a bit different because it's a bit more casual than usual, but I don't "dress up" everyday. Sometimes I like to sport the casual workout look which is still cute.

I purchased my quarter-zip at a Nike Outlet and got it for $20! I absolutely love it for spring because it keeps you warm, but it's not too heavy! I also recently got new running shoes, after having another pair for a few years. These are so comfy and I really recommend them!

Do you like to wear workout clothes?

Prom Dress Picks

Hey everyone! As most of you know, I'm a freshman in high school, so I will obviously not be attending prom this year. At my high school, it is common to wear long dresses for prom, and short dresses for homecoming, so that is why I have collected longer dresses for this post. For prom, I like the look of classy, elegant dresses with not too much sparkle or skin.

 grey pleated- $315

 red halter- $328

cream- $369

grey- $68

 black- $280

Which dress is your favorite?

One Year of Lots of Lys

Hey everyone, and happy Easter! Although Easter is a more important holiday than the one I'm talking about today, I want to share something that I'm very proud of. I've been blogging for a year! March 27th is my "Blogiversary", and I'm so excited.

Here's a picture from my first outfit post!

If you have been reading since the beginning (shout-out to my dad), then you may remember that my blog had a different name when I first started blogging. For the first couple months of blogging, my blog was Sun, Style, and Squats. When I began, I didn't really love this name, but settled on it because I just "wanted to have a blog already". I changed the name last May, and it has stayed the same since, with no plans of changing.

I'm proud of the content that I put out, although I know that it could improve with more practice. This is my 150th blog post here (totally on accident) and I hope to continue to post more frequently. I'm so glad that I've made friends and "met" so many people through the blogging world. It's so cool to be able to meet like-minded girls with similar interests.

I want to thank each and every one of you who has followed along over the past year, whether you've been here the whole time, or have only just joined. I love reading and responding to comments on my posts and positive feedback is just the best.

To celebrate one year of blogging, I asked you guys on IG and Twitter to ask me any questions about myself, Lots of Lys, or blogging. Thank you to those who asked questions!

How do you come up with things to blog about?
I keep a list in the notes on my phone of blog post ideas that I have. I try to think of posts that I would like to read, or posts that I wanted but were unable to find online. I also love using Pinterest as inspiration!

What do you love most about blogging?
I love that I have a creative outlet where I can share my ideas. I also love connecting with other bloggers, especially in link-ups or collabs!

What do you hate most about it?
I hate coding. I don't understand it at all, and sometimes googling just doesn't work out. I also hate when I proofread my post and then publish it, only to realize later that there's a spelling error. sigh.

What are your favorite places to shop at?
I love shopping and my favorite places are J. Crew, J. Crew Factory, Madewell, Old Navy, Gap, Target, and Lilly Pulitzer!

Alyssa

Fab Friday

Hey everyone! Today is the first day of my spring break and I'm so excited!! I'm kicking off my break by sharing some recent pictures with you guys!

one:
I was sitting at my desk Tuesday when I realized how everything sort of matched. My planner is literally my life, and I don't know where I'd be without it. Essie's Mod Square is my current favorite nail polish, and in my opinion, the perfect pink. For my birthday back in November, my best friend bought me a succulent because she knows that I love them. I wanted a unique name for her, so I named her Tressa (haha).

two:
Last weekend I was in Las Vegas. We spent Friday morning at the North Premium Outlets, which were really nice! I purchased a new lunch bag from Vera Bradley, shorts and a top from J. Crew, and a quarter-zip pullover from Nike. It was a successful morning!

three:
Jack Rogers are my favorite shoe for spring and summer, and I've been wearing them a lot recently. I purchased this Hubert's lemonade from a local grocery store after hearing great things about it. It is pretty good, but I honestly prefer water to any other drink, so I ended up letting my parents have it.

What have you been up to lately?

Spring Break To-Do List

I wish I was spending my spring break like this!
{via
I am an avid list-maker, whether it be to-do lists or shopping lists. By making lists I'm able to visually see everything that I need to do, and I feel successful and content when I cross things off my lists. I thought that I would share my "Spring Break To-Do List" with you guys in case you wanted some ideas pf things you could do! I will be spending the majority of my spring break at home, hopefully being productive.

Homework
It is inevitable that I will have some sort of homework or project due when I return from break, so I want to complete all assignments earlier in the break so I have more time to relax.

Blog
I can't wait to have time to take outfit pictures and create more content for my blog. I also want to comment on more blog posts because often times I enjoy a blog post, but never comment!

Clean Out My Backpack
Over the course of the year, my backpack has become less organized. I have a plethora of old math worksheets and homework assignments that are taking up room in my backpack.

Celebrate Easter and my Blogiversary
It just so happens that my 1 year Blogiversary falls on Easter this year- March 27th! I will have a post up on Sunday about my Blogiversary, but will spend the day celebrating Easter, the more important of the 2 holidays.

Go Shopping
When I return from spring break, my history class will be taking a field trip to a museum and girls are supposed to wear dresses or pantsuits. I have my outfit planned out, but I'm in desperate need of some simple black flats. Hopefully I can find a nice pair before the trip!

Bake a New Recipe
I have pinned so many yummy looking recipes that are just calling my name (lavender and lemon cupcakes- um yes!) and I definitely want to try out a new recipe next week!

What's on your agenda for spring break?

College Campuses

Hey everyone! Today I'm sharing some photos from colleges that I've visited. For some reason, I really enjoy seeing people's pictures and posts about different colleges. I have yet to start traveling to places for the sake of checking out a college, but I have visited college campuses while on vacation with my family.

Yale University

Harvard University

Boston College

Princeton University

I can't wait to see more college campuses; they're all so different and unique!

Spring Shoes

Hey everyone! Today's topic is shoes. Usually I'm not one to purchase many pairs of shoes each season because I have my favorites that I always wear (my Jacks and Converse), but lately I have seen so many cute pairs that are perfect for spring! I decided to round them up and share them.
sneakers | brown sandals | striped flats  | espadrilles (sold out)  | avocado flats | heels

So cute, right?! Ugh, I'm obsessed! Let me know which pair of shoes you like best!

Things to Do On Spring Break

Hey everyone! I know that a lot of schools have spring break coming up within the next month or so, so I thought I would share my favorite things to do when I don't go on vacation, but still want something fun to do.

Go to a Farmer's Market.
Try a DIY.
Bake or cook a new recipe.
Try out a new restaurant.
Go for a hike.
Read a book (that you haven't had the time to read because of English class).
Clean out and organize your room, desk, closet, etc.
Catch up with a friend.
Go to a museum.
Paint your nails a "spring-y" color.
Volunteer at an animal shelter or elderly home.

I hope you guys enjoyed and gained some ideas of what you can do over spring break. Let me know what your plans are!

xoxo,
Alyssa

Life Update

Hey everyone, and happy Friday! This week has been light in the blogging world (*sad face*), so I thought that instead of a Fab Friday post, I'd share what I've been up to lately.

I know that it's different in various parts of the country, but here in California club soccer occurs from summer to late November, and then high school soccer is from December to February. In March, club soccer starts back up again and goes through summer. So high school season just ended, and it certainly had an interesting outcome. We ended with a not-so-very-good record, but I still had fun despite the lack of wins. I can't wait to see what new players we get, and I hope that we win a few more games next year ;)

Today I have a half day of school because I have two soccer games this afternoon, so it will be nice to get a head-start on the weekend. Next week is super exciting because I will be heading to Las Vegas for soccer! I'm really looking forward to Vegas and I know it will be super fun!

I know a lot of schools have spring break soon, but mine is not until the week after Easter! I don't have any vacations planned, but I will be traveling for soccer, and hopefully doing a lot of blogging, as well as relaxing.

As many of you know, I'm a freshman in high school, which is often considered the easiest year. My problem isn't the work-load (which has been surprisingly light- even in honors classes!), but how distracted I get when I do it. When I get home from school, I should grab a snack and start homework before I can stop myself, but instead I eat a snack and scroll through every social media 5 times, trying to stall. In the end, I'd much rather have my homework done and then relax than relax first, but that's just me. I'm trying to break this habit before it gets too severe.

What have you been up to lately?

What I Eat In A Day

Hey everyone! Today I'm sharing what I eat pretty much everyday. I did one of these posts back in September, but what I eat daily has definitely changed! Since then I have transitioned to a vegetarian diet with an emphasis on protein (yes, it's possible). So let's see what I eat!

Breakfast- 6:50
oatmeal (1/2 cup oats with 1/2 an apple sliced mixed in) + a hard-boiled egg

Snack- 9:00
roasted and lightly salted almonds (about 30)

Lunch- 10:45 (I have 1st lunch so it's really early)
1/2  peanut butter sandwich + 1/2 an apple + a Think Thin protein bar + an orange

Snack- 3:00
1 cup cottage cheese + tortilla chips
or
1/2 cup black beans + shredded cheese + tortilla chips

Dinner- 6:30
rice + veggies + tofu
or
quinoa + beans + avocado + tomatoes + corn
or
pasta + veggies + tomato sauce

Dessert- 7:30
or
cookies

This is usually around 2000-2500 calories and around 100 grams of protein! I hope you enjoy this post and got some ideas of new things you can eat!

Alyssa

Fab Friday

Hey everyone and happy Friday! I apologize for the lack of posts this week. Club soccer started back up again, and I'm still getting back into the routine. Anyways, here's what I was up to this week!

one:
My mom felt bad because the flowers from last week didn't last very long, so she bought me these daffodils from Trader Joe's! I love the yellow color and I think daffodils are the perfect spring flower. They've been brightening my mood all week!

two:
The outfit post that I posted on Wednesday is probably one of my favorite ever! I purchased this yellow crossbody from Old Navy back in December, and I got it for $2 because it was dirty. Turns out, the dirt came off with water, and it looks as good as new! I love the color and know that I will get a lot of use out of it during the spring and summer.

three;
I've been absolutely obsessed with my FitBit recently, and you guys are probably tired of hearing about it (also, I'm getting a lot of wear out of this gingham shirt- can you tell?). On Monday, my post was all about my FitBit, and why I love it. It's such a neat accessory that I never thought of needing, but I'm so glad I have it!

Have a great weekend!

Alyssa

Outfit: Pop of Yellow

shirt | shorts- Very J | shoes | purse | FitBit | watch

Hey everyone! Today I'm sharing an outfit that I have been wearing a lot lately. These shorts are from a boutique in Laguna Beach and I love them because they go with everything! My J. crew popover is one of my go-to shirts in spring because it can be worn with so much and it's not too heavy. I wore my Old Navy crossbody to add a pop of color. My town has a history of citrus, and there are citrus trees everywhere! I thought this location was nice and I'll definitely be using it again in the future!
